Anne Kagioka Rigoulet, Figure k-h-25, 2025, oil and mixed media on panel, 130.3 x 130.3 cm
MAKI Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in the sixth edition of Taipei Dangdai with a two-person exhibition by Japanese artists Anne Kagioka Rigoulet and baanai.
Anne Kagioka Rigoulet (b. 1987 in Kanagawa) combines fabric collage and classical mural techniques to express the fluid energy of water reflections and will present examples from her most recent body of work incorporating areas that not only protrude from, but also recede into the perceived “surface” of the painting. baanai (b. 1977 in Kanagawa) continuously inscribes specific phrases—such as “ARIGATOUGOZAIMASU,” or “thank you very much” in Japanese—in various styles, resulting in intricately layered canvases that draw the viewer in.
We look forward to seeing you at Booth A08.
